Shut and open

Toronto Humane Society to close and reopen with new board.

“It has been contentious litigation,” said Frank Addario, a lawyer for the board members. “As his honour said, there’s great passion in the animal welfare world about how to run the shelter.”

The shelter will close April 12, and any animals remaining inside will be turned over to the OSPCA, according to the agreement which was approved by Ontario Superior Court Justice David Brown this morning.
