Internet marketing guru Alicia Whalen illustrates the power of social marketing sites and the impact it can have on a business with the story of Cocoa the Hotel Dog.

The soulful-eyed chocolate lab is the marketing mascot of the Best Western Chocolate Lake Hotel in Halifax.

Not only is Cocoa the dog-in-residence, but he also has his own Twitter account at TheHotelDog and he regularly tweets to 1,141 followers about everything from the maple-glazed ham he’s eyeing at the hotel’s planned Easter Brunch to having just pulled an all-nighter with the hotel staff and needing a good long snooze.
