Horse auction

Alberta SPCA to auction 33 horses seized near Springbank.

Morris Airey, director of animal protection services for the SPCA, said the high cost of feed is creating difficulties for many horse owners in the province.

“We’ve actually had calls from some rescue organizations throughout the province that find that they’re getting into difficulty themselves — being able to afford feed for the horses they already have,” said Airey.

The SPCA has had a hard time finding homes for horses this year because they’ve seized so many of the animals, added Airey.
