Cat plan

Orillia has one.

The Orillia Homeless Cat Initiative (OHCI) will begin by trapping, neutering and returning 200 stay cats in the first year.

The Comfie Cat Shelter will provide the volunteers to trap and return the cats and the veterinarians to neuter them, MacLeod said.

Two veterinarians outside of the city have agreed to spay/neuter the homeless cats at a reduced rate. Males will cost $38 and $78 for females. The entire process would cost $100 per cat, including an exam, vaccinations, handling and transportation. It costs the SPCA $160 to trap and euthanize one cat.
