Puppy problem

Brandon Humane Society is euthanizing “large numbers” of puppies.

Many of the animals are coming from northern Manitoba, said Tracy Munn, a spokesperson for the society. Munn said the shelter would love to be able to take them all in, but there’s simply not enough space.

She said it costs up to $250 for the surgery, a price many dog owners claim they can’t afford.

“A little puppy or a dog that is a year old that is wagging their tale and still trying to kiss the vet while they put that injection in — it’s a horrible thing to see,” Munn said

“To anyone in a shelter, to anyone that has a pet, it’s like euthanizing a baby,” she added. “Something has to be done, and the only answer we see is spaying and neutering — mandatory spaying and neutering.”
