Mayerthorpe man helps revive industry.

With sales steady increasing, Neil said the future again looks bright for the fledgling industry. Even though he raises the animals for human consumption, the rancher has a deep appreciation for the bison. He explained the term bison is Canadian, whereas the word buffalo is European – stemming from the naming of the African counterpart known as water buffalo.

“Looking into the eye of the buffalo you know they are a powerful animal,” Neil said.
