Gland demand

Canadian company sends beaver glands to Europe.

Perfumeries, mostly in France, use this product to make the aroma, the smell of their perfume last longer,” said Dave Bewick, vice-president of North American Fur Auctions (NAFA), a Canadian company that sells goods on consignment on behalf of large fur farms and small-time trappers. Some trappers use the glands as bait, but can make a lot of extra money if they remove them, dry them and ship them to NAFA, Bewick said.

The value of the glands depends on their quality, but trappers earn as much as $60 per pound for them, he said.
