But why stop at requesting respect for animals on their way to slaughter when they have been treated so abysmally on the factory farms where they were raised? The whole animals-for-food industry is morally bankrupt, and that includes so-called “humanely” raised animals, who, no matter how green the pastures are that they frolic in while they are fattened up for market, no matter how much range they are allowed to freely wander over, no matter how hormone-free their organic feed is, are still betrayed at the end when they are slaughtered.
