Blame Britain

Real-life Canadian timber wolf in race against real-life British rugby winger to promote real-life eco-conscious shoes.

“The Captive Animals’ Protection Society is urging Timberland to stop tomorrow’s planned event,” the organization told Canwest News Service yesterday. “This stunt has nothing to do with portraying the amazing abilities of wolves, their strength and speed, but instead perpetuates the breeding and confinement of wild animals in captivity.”

The society’s campaign director, Craig Redmond, said: “It seems strange that a company promoting footwear with supposed ‘eco-conscious materials’ would want to act in such a way that encourages the captivity of animals.”

He added that “anyone who wants to see how fast a ‘real, live Canadian timber wolf’ can run” should “go to Canada or watch a wildlife program on TV.”
